Brussels Airport has declared its intention to pamper its passengers this holiday season after decking its halls with Christmas trees, festive animations and fairy-tale lighting.

Also on the agenda is live music, children’s entertainment and special Christmas settings for the best Instagram photos and selfies!

The airport promises that its shops will also offer the perfect opportunity to buy those last minute gifts and that its F&B outlets will delight visitors on a culinary level with festive menus, a giant chocolate Christmas tree by Neuhaus and a rich assortment of Belgian beers and other tasty delights.

Over a million passengers are expected pass through the airport during the two week holiday period in the build up to Christmas and start of the New Year.

Welcome to the magical world of Brussels Airport

Until mid-January, passengers will enjoy the festive Christmas lights on the esplanade in front of the airport building, the wonderfully decorated entrances, the beautifully adorned Christmas trees and the winter scenes in the terminal.

Even the well-known split-flap board in the departures hall was given a striking gift wrapping thanks to Belgian company Barco.

In addition to the many animations, special attention will also be given to Belgian gastronomy in dozens of eateries. People will even be able to discover the food of Michelin-starred chef David Martin in the Black Pearls restaurant.

Jingle bells, Christmas magic and selfies

The heart-warming Christmas atmosphere at Brussels Airport is not limited to magical lighting and decoration.

The special family lane at security screening with Disney’s Frozen animations, Santa Claus who welcomes passengers from his giant sleigh, the delicious smell of Christmas trees everywhere and the warm sound of Christmas Carols all add to the festive mood.

“We’ve thought of everything. Even the people movers for passengers with reduced mobility are decorated as sleighs,” says the airport.

“And anyone arriving at Brussels Airport can, throughout the Christmas period, select their favourite Christmas melody on a jukebox in the baggage hall.

“Young and old won’t know where to look to enjoy the many surprises that Brussels Airport has up its sleeve in the weeks ahead. They will be able to rely on the help of the many Christmas elves who will take Polaroid shots for the family album and dole out ginger bread, pralines and shopping vouchers.

“In addition to the photographing elves, Brussels Airport will be providing quite a few ‘Insta-settings’ for selfies and social media posts. It’s worthwhile to provide extra time for wandering around and doing some shopping.”

There’s also a kids’ corner in pier A for our very youngest passengers and while the teenagers compete against each other in the Airport Winter Games, the parents can find the perfect Christmas gift in the many shops or treat themselves to something nice, a special drink and a tasty meal.
