Finavia has opened a new inspiring area in the Schengen gate area of Helsinki Airport that brings a piece of Finnish nature to the airport.

Four new shops and a café and restaurant have just opened in the area that was completed in March 2026.

“We are continuously developing Helsinki Airport and its commercial selection,” noted Finavia’s director of commercial services,” Nora Immonen.

“The new area brings interesting shops and a restaurant to the Schengen side of the airport that meet passengers’ wishes. Helsinki Airport wants to claim its place as the best airport in Europe every day.”

The new area is located on the Schengen side at gate 30.

FINNISH NATURE AT THE AIRPORT

The world-famous Finnish happiness is strongly linked to nature, which has been highlighted in the new area.

At the centre of the area is a sculpture-like tree, with a swing hanging from a branch, where you can enjoy a brief moment of calm before continuing your trip.

“In Finland, tourists are particularly interested in the diverse nature and the experiences it offers, which we wanted to highlight in the new area of the airport together with interesting brands,” says Immonen.

Three wooden bears, two fairytale-themed miniature worlds and small story-related details have been placed in the hilly landscape, encouraging families with children to explore the environment.

FOUR NEW SHOPS AND A RESTAURANT

In February–March 2026, four new stores and a restaurant have opened in the new premises, all of which are linked to the nature theme and Nordicness.

Partioaitta is said to bring high-quality clothing and equipment brands for tourism, hiking and outdoor activities to the airport, equipping passengers for the conditions of Finland or the destination country. Lindex offers Scandinavian fashion for everyday use and celebrations.

The Finnish family-friendly restaurant Picnic offers familiar flavours at the airport, as well as a completely new concept where passengers can conveniently pick up their pre-ordered meals for their flight. The newest R-kioski at the airport offers quick snacks and lots of takeaway products.

The unique Pure – Taste of Finland offers authentic Finnish flavours and gift products that allow travellers to take a piece of Finland with them.

More than one million passengers pass through Helsinki Airport every month, and they are already served by around 50 shops and 50 restaurants and cafés.
