Airport staff at Detroit Metro and Willow Run airports receive COVID-19 jabs

Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) this week held a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for all airport workers at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County (DTW) and Willow Run (YIP) airports.

Participants ranged from tenants who lease space at YIP to employees of the airlines, concessionaires and janitorial service providers.

WCAA partnered with Rite Aid to provide clinics on-site at Willow Run on Monday and DTW on Tuesday and Wednesday. More than 300 workers received their first dose of the vaccine over the three-day period.

In late March, a clinic was held for eligible WCAA employees. Henry Ford Health System administered the vaccine at that time.

Earlier this year, the Wayne County Health Department vaccinated the airports’ first responders. Some companies based at DTW and YIP have also offered the vaccine to their staff.

“We’re all working together to protect our employees, our customers and our community from the devastating effects of COVID-19,” said a WCAA statement.
