Stockholm Arlanda has been named Europe’s most punctual airport by Eurocontrol, a pan-European civil-military organisation dedicated to supporting European aviation.
According to Eurocontrol, Arlanda had the best punctuality in 2024 for departing flights among the top 30 largest airports in Europe.
“It is very gratifying that Arlanda was able to deliver the best punctuality for departing flights in Europe in 2024,” notes Swedavia’s president and CEO, Jonas Abrahamsson.
“Punctuality is always a top priority, and we will continue our targeted efforts to strengthen it further together with all our employees and partners who contribute to Arlanda’s efficiency.”
In 2024, Stockholm Arlanda Airport had a punctuality rate of 80% for departing flights – an increase of 4% compared to 2023. Oslo came in second place in Eurocontrol’s annual overview, followed by Copenhagen in third.
The punctuality of departing flights for all airports in Eurocontrol’s network was on average just over 66%, which is 1% better than 2023 and 7% lower than pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
Overall, air travel at Arlanda increased by 4% in 2024 compared to the previous year. International travel at Arlanda increased by seven per cent, while domestic travel decreased by ten per cent in 2024 compared with 2023.
On other matters, Abrahamsson adds: “In recent years, Swedavia has made major investments in Arlanda, including a new modern security control and the new Marketplace.
“In 2025, the remaining parts of the new Marketplace will open and work to develop the airport will continue.”
