Domestic traffic drives 2021 traffic growth at Pulkovo
Saint Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport handled 18.1 million passengers last year – an impressive 66% up on 2020 and just 8% down on its pre-COVID best in 2019.
According to operator, Northern Capital Gateway LLC, Pulkovo accommodated 15.5 million passengers on domestic flights, marking an 28% increase compared to 2019.
Top domestic destinations were Moscow, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Simferopol, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnodar, Arkhangelsk, Kazan and Murmansk.
While the gateway welcomed 2.5 million passengers on international flights, a drop of 66% on 2019. Top international destinations were Antalya, Istanbul, Larnaca, Tashkent, Erevan, Frankfurt
am Main, Minsk, Helsinki, Osh and Urgench.
Between them Russian carriers were Rossiya Airlines, Pobeda Airlines, Smartavia, Aeroflot and S7 Airlines handled 13.1 million passengers.
Turkish Airlines, Uzbekistan Airways, Lufthansa, Finnair and Belavia were among the most popular international carriers serving Saint Petersburg, between them handling close to 400,000 passengers during the year.
