Dubai Airports is gearing up for an upsurge in the number of passengers expected to pass through Dubai International (DXB) over the next few days.
It is estimated that 545,000 passengers will use DXB between January 1-7, with throughput peaking on January the 2nd and 3rd when more than 78,000 travellers are expected to depart from the world’s busiest international airport.
Home carrier, Emirates, is expected to handle the bulk of passengers in Terminal 3 and is urging passengers to use its self-service check-in and bag-drop facilities to ease congestion.
The UAE gateway says that it is working closely with the airlines and some 90 food and beverage and retail concessionaires as well as Dubai’s control and health authorities to ensure the wellbeing and comfort of the customers.
As previously reported, Dubai Airports has implemented a series of precautionary measures throughout the airport to maintain the health and safety of customers and staff.
These measures include hand sanitiser stations around the airport, protective plexiglass at check-in and immigration counters, thermal and temperature screening, social distancing markers and increased levels of cleaning and sanitisation in compliance with international standards as set out by relevant local authorities.
