More than 3.1 million passengers travelled through Swedavia’s ten airports in October, an increase of 2% on the corresponding month a year ago.
International air travel continued to strengthen and increased by 3% overall, with both Stockholm Arlanda and Göteborg Landvetter (Gothenburg) recording their highest-ever international numbers for October.
However, at the same time, domestic travel decreased by 4% compared with October 2025.

Operator, Swedavia, notes that demand for international travel remains strong despite an uncertain global environment and high fuel prices, which may continue to affect airlines route development.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Sweden’s largest airport, handled just over 2.2 million passengers in October, in line with October 2025. International travel increased by 2% compared with the previous year.
Indeed, with just under 1.9 million international passengers, Arlanda recorded its highest-ever international traffic for the month of October, despite a sizeable 8% fall in domestic numbers compared with October 2025.

Göteborg Landvetter Airport handled just under 530,000 passengers in October, an increase of 4% compared with October 2025, the total including more than 480,000 international passengers.
At Swedavia’s regional airports, traffic developments varied during October. Kiruna Airport and Luleå Airport continued to show strong performance in the domestic market.

Kiruna Airport increased total passenger volumes by 8% compared with the previous year, while Luleå Airport reached the same total traffic level as before the pandemic.
Visby Airport, together with Kiruna, recorded the strongest growth among the regional airports, with passenger numbers at Visby increasing by 9% compared with October 2025, driven by strong growth in domestic travel.
Malmö Airport also showed positive development, with total traffic increasing by 12% year-on-year, primarily due to growing international traffic.
