Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation for Munich Airport

Munich Airport (MUC) has become the first German airport to achieve Level 1 status in ACI World’s Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation (AEA) programme.

The airport believes that the accreditation underscores its strong commitment to people with disabilities and those with reduced mobility.

The AEA programme supports airports in measuring, evaluating, and continuously improving their accessibility management and accessibility culture.

MUC notes that it is the only international assessment and accreditation programme specifically dedicated to airport accessibility for people with disabilities.

In addition to infrastructure, the assessment considers strategy and management, processes, training, and corporate culture.

The evaluation criteria includes accessible entrances and wayfinding systems, PRM service quality, support services for travellers with limited mobility and increasing awareness among airport employees.

And it evaluates the integration of accessibility into corporate strategy and management, the application of design principles, and compliance with national and international standards.

The goal being to ensure a seamless travel experience for all passenger groups.
