New hotels coming to Brisbane Airport?

Two rare hotel developments are on the drawing board for Brisbane Airport, with experienced hotel operators invited to submit proposals for hotel management agreement opportunities.

The dual opportunities will meet rising demand from business, leisure and event-driven travel ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane.

Brisbane Airport is already home to three hotels, which are consistently at capacity.

The two new hotel sites will be architecturally designed with one located adjacent to the International Terminal, and a second at the fast-growing Skygate retail and entertainment precinct.

The proposed mid to upper level hotel will be the first to directly service the International Terminal and will be adjacent to a new multi-level carpark.

The second development at Skygate will provide a select service offering for a mid-level hotel. The proposed site will be positioned next to the existing DFO, expanded 16-hectare entertainment hub Lander’s Pocket and other speciality stores including Queensland’s only 24/7 Woolworths supermarket.

Brisbane Airport’s executive general manager for commercial, Scott Norris, said each location offered unique advantages for operators seeking to establish a presence at Brisbane Airport.

“Location is everything and it doesn’t get more connected than being at the front door of Queensland’s busiest gateway,” he noted. “Brisbane Airport’s three current airport hotels are consistently at capacity, so there is no doubt there is demand for additional hotel rooms.

“Long-term, Brisbane requires thousands of new hotel rooms ahead of the 2032 Olympics and so we’re highly confident the airport can support five hotels.

“With Brisbane Airport a hub, every night there are hundreds of people transiting through Brisbane Airport before making connections across the state, or around the world.”
