SMART AIRPORTS EUROPE CONFERENCE BEGINS IN MUNICH

Copenhagen Airports CEO, Thomas Woldbye; Fraport Greece CEO, Alexander Zinell; and LabCampus/Munich Airport’s vice president for innovation and creation, Sarah Wittlieb, took centre stage this morning at the opening of the SMART Airports Europe Conference in Munich.
Today is ‘SMART Aviation & Economic Development’ day at the event, which runs alongside inter airport Europe 2019, the 22nd international exhibition for airport equipment, technology, design and services, which begins tomorrow and lasts for the rest of the week.
Conference chair and MXD Development Strategists’ president and CEO, Chris LeTourneur, got proceedings underway.
SMART Airports Europe is the official conference of inter airport Europe and comprises four one day conferences designed to inform and provoke debate on a range of different topics.
‘Design & Development’ is the theme of tomorrow’s conference, while ‘Airport Security’ and ‘IT & Passenger Processing’ are in the spotlight on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Visit https://smart-airports.com/europe/programme/ for more information about the event.
A total of 658 exhibitors from 39 countries will present their latest developments and solutions for airports and airlines at inter airport Europe, which is held the Munich Trade Fair Centre in Germany.
According to event organisers, the Mac Brooks Group, the most important exhibitor countries, besides Germany, are France, the USA, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, China, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark and Austria.
With around 33,570 square metres of net exhibition space, inter airport Europe 2019 has once again grown by around 5% in terms of stand space, compared to the previous event.
Close to 14,000 visitors from 110 countries attended the exhibition in 2017.
