Route network expanding at Budapest Airport

Just six weeks into the new year and Budapest Airport today confirmed the addition of a second new carrier to its list of airlines.
SCAT Airlines will launch a new direct route between Budapest and Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on May 27.
The new service marks the addition of a new airline, a new destination, and a new country to Budapest Airport’s expanding route network.
SCAT Airlines, headquartered at Shymkent International Airport, will operate twice-weekly flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays, utilising the state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX 8200, ensuring a modern and comfortable travel experience for passengers.
“This new route to Shymkent is a significant milestone for Budapest Airport, further strengthening our connectivity with Central Asia,” said Máté Ritter, head of airline development, Budapest Airport.
“We are thrilled to welcome SCAT Airlines to Budapest and look forward to a successful collaboration that benefits both leisure and business travellers.”
The initial operation is planned for one year, starting in May, providing Hungarian travellers with direct access to one of Kazakhstan’s key economic and cultural hubs.
The connection also opens new opportunities for tourism, trade, and economic cooperation between Hungary and Kazakhstan.
Budapest Airport notes that the new connection further reinforces its commitment to expanding its presence in Central Asia. strengthening Hungary’s role as a key European gateway to Central Asia.
