Record breaking July for Italy’s Cagliari Airport

Share

An impressive two million passengers passed through Cagliari Airport between April and July this year cementing its status as Sardinia’s busiest gateway.

The airport is currently served by 20 airlines that between them operate 81 routes to 68 destinations across Italy and the surrounding region.

It notes that it set a new record in July when it welcomed just over 600,000 passengers, up 5.1% on the corresponding month a year ago.

The latest figures mean that the airport handled 2.89 million passengers in the first seven months of 2024 – a rise of 7% on the same period in 2023.

The airport says that the performance is “the result of the good results obtained on the national (+6.2% travellers year-on-year) and international (+9.3%) front.”

Fabio Mereu, CEO of the management company of Cagliari Airport, commented: “The numbers encourage us to believe that the summer will end under the banner of growth and will have a positive impact on the trend of passenger traffic throughout 2024.

“My hope is that the entire regional tourism system can concretely benefit from the increase in traveler flows to Southern Sardinia”.
