Passenger traffic recovery continues at Queen Alia

Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport has announced that it handled 5.8 million passengers during the first nine months of 2022, a healthy 89% rise on the same period last year and just 15% down on pre-pandemic levels.
“We are continuing to build on our close collaborations with various stakeholders to grow our airline and destination networks,” said Nicolas Claude, CEO of operator, Airport International Group (AIG).
“In September we welcomed the arrival of the first direct Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa, which expanded our reach into the African continent, which further diversified the travel options available to our passengers via Jordan’s prime gateway to the world.”
During the month of September, 696,096 passengers travelled through Queen Alia, up 24.8% and down 7.4% against 2021 and 2019 figures, respectively.
Additionally, the airport accommodated 5,614 aircraft movements, registering a 6.6% growth and 17.1% drop compared to 2021 and 2019 figures, respectively.
It is a different story for cargo, unfortunately, with the 5,557 tons of freight handled last month, down 13.4% on September 2021 and 40.4% on the corresponding period in 2019.
