Hong Kong International Airport ends year on a high

Airport Authority Hong Kong reports that Hong Kong International Airport will close 2023 with passenger numbers back to 80% of pre-pandemic levels.
The airport’s recovery is in line with Airport Authority Hong Kong’s forecast.
During Christmas holiday travel peak, the airport handled more than 160,000 passengers daily on both the 22nd and 23rd of December.
The 164,000 passengers handled on December 23 is a new daily record for the post pandemic period.
AAHK notes that aircraft movements have exceeded 80% of the pre-pandemic level since mid-December.
A new post-pandemic record of 1,034 flights movements in a single day was seen on December 23.
Passenger traffic at HKIA is expected to fully recover to the pre-pandemic level by the end of 2024.
