‘Greener Future’ grant scheme launched by London Luton Airport

Share

London Luton Airport (LLA) in the UK is piloting a new ‘Greener Future’ grant to support local community groups and charities demonstrating a commitment to increasing biodiversity and tackling carbon reduction.

Organisations based and working within a five-mile radius of the airport can apply for grants of up to £10,000. The fund will be managed by the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation (BLCF) on behalf of LLA, as part of the airport’s BLCF grant giving programme.

The gateway’s head of sustainability, David Vazquez, commented: “We have set an ambition to achieve net zero for airport emissions by 2040 – ten years ahead of the government target.

“To help us achieve this ambitious target, we are looking to fund local community groups with a commitment to developing innovation programmes and environmental education initiatives designed to enhance biodiversity and drive carbon reduction.

“Grants will be awarded to initiatives that enhance and protect our local environment or that involve environmentally sustainable products or services that will enhance the local environment or conservation areas. We would particularly welcome applications that aim to provide innovation and educational initiatives to build legacy in biodiversity and carbon reduction.”

The application window will close on January 30, 2023, and all submitted projects must be ready to start by the end of April 2023.
