PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE BETWEEN US AND TIJUANA AIRPORT ENJOYS RECORD YEAR

A record 2.8 million passengers used the 390ft long pedestrian bridge between San Diego and Tijuana International Airport last year to cross between the US and Mexico.
The total was 28.1% up on the previous year with 30% of travellers using it to catch flights to more than 30 domestic destinations in Mexico served from Tijuana International Airport.
The bi-national bridge is operated by Cross Border Xpress (CBX), which in October, partnered with Visit California to launch a California Welcome Center in its US Arrivals area.
One of 18 Welcome Centers across the state, the California Welcome Center at CBX is located in the arrivals terminal, offering first-time visitors from Mexico a warm welcome with bilingual assistants, digital interactions, translated media and California guides.
CBX claims that the bridge, opened to fee paying passengers in 2015, helps users avoid “unforseen delays” at the congested border crossings of San Ysidro and Otay Mesa.
