A staggering 7,500 jobs are up for grabs at Hong Kong International Airport this weekend as the gateway hosts Career Expo 2024 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

More than 45 airport companies are recruiting for over 7,500 vacancies during the three-day event, which has been organised by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) and Hong Kong’s Labour Department.

AAHK CEO, Fred Lam; Ho Kai-ming, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, and Vivian Cheung, the airport’s chief operating officer, officiated at the opening ceremony of the event.

Lam said: “An array of projects are progressing full steam ahead at HKIA, including Airport City, the expansion into a Three-runway System (3RS) and air cargo developments.

“A strong talent pool is crucial for the success of these developments. In the meantime, we continue to deploy innovative technologies across the airport, thus creating more high-value career opportunities that will attract more young people to join us.

“We attach great importance to the wellbeing of airport staff. Our aim is to build an airport community where colleagues enjoy their work with peace of mind.”

While Ho Kai-ming, Hong Kong’s Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, noted: “HKIA is world-renowned for its operational excellence and efficiency, and its exceptional workforce has been the cornerstone of its success.

“Recruiting, training, and nurturing talents are critical for the future airport development. This Expo jointly held by the Labour Department and AAHK provides a platform for participants to understand the latest trends and requirements of aviation and relevant industries, and further their career development.”
