Nuremberg Airport in Germany has received the green light for its third Cargo Centre (CCN 3), which will be built by GOLDBECK Ost GmbH, which previously constructed its P4 car park.
The warehouse is scheduled to open at the end of 2027, with its primary user expected to be CHI NUE Cargo Handling GmbH.
The new logistics warehouse is being built near the airport roundabout, so it will be one of the first building you see when driving to the airport.
CCN 3 will comprise a warehouse spanning around 4,600 square metres and an office area of approximately 1,600 square metres.
To meet urban planning requirements, the design is a rectangular structure with a height of eleven metres.
The facade will be fitted with colour-coded sandwich panels to distinguish between the office and logistics areas. The southern courtyard will have ten truck loading bridges and the northern courtyard will have four freight gates.
‘Cargo Centre 3 will further strengthen the airport’s position as a logistics hub and expand it in line with demand,” says Nurembeg Airport CEO, Dr Michael Hupe.
‘In CHI, we have found a strong and reliable partner for the future.’ Dr Hupe also expects good cooperation and competent solutions from the project’s general contractor, GOLDBECK.
According to the airport, the ongoing growth of the logistics sector ensures consistently high demand for additional space.
To meet this demand, the expansion of the cargo area is now underway with the construction of CCN 3, which is being made possible by the demolition of an inactive LSG Group catering building.
