Government ministers celebrate opening of train link to Turin Airport

Turin Airport (TRN) is celebrating the opening of a new train link that makes it possible to travel between it and downtown Turin in just 31 minutes.
The importance of the new Turin-Airport-Ciriè-Germagnano railway line saw Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini; Minister of Public Administration, Paolo Zangrillo, and the president of the Piedmont region, Alberto Cirio among the guests at the inauguration ceremony.
The new service will between Torino Airport and the city centre of Turin will operate from early morning until late at night, with the first arrival at TRN coming in at 5.29am, and the last train to Turin leaving at 10.28pm.
A statement issued on behalf of Elisabetta Oliveri, president of SAGAT-Torino Airport, and Andrea Andorno, CEO of SAGAT-Torino Airport, said: “The new train will directly connect the station, which is perfectly integrated into the airport infrastructure, with the centre of Turin, the Reggia di Venaria, the Lingotto exhibition centre and important tourist and production areas such as Alba, Fossano and Canavese.
“In addition, all our passengers will have easy access to the Italian rail network, including high-speed services.
“The ease of access to an airport, especially if it is sustainable and competitive, is one of the key factors for the success of an airport and, finally, our airport will also be able to benefit from this lever to achieve further future growth after the record year of 2023, when we will exceed 4.5 million passengers for the first time”.
