Busy year ahead for shop and F&B openings at Stockholm Arlanda

Pocket Bar & Bistro has become the latest new F&B offering to open its doors at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

Airport operator, Swedavia, notes that the new addition offers “fantastic views of the runway” and aircraft taking off and landing from its location, one level up in SkyCity.

It promises to be a busy year for F&B and retail openings at the airport this year with up to 50 new outlets planned for Stockholm Arlanda’s eagerly anticipated new Marketplace and a number of new restaurants, bars and shops planned for SkyCity.

As part of the ongoing major development of Sweden’s capital city gateway, Stockholm Arlanda will also open a new security checkpoint in Terminal 5 this summer.

Talking about the new commercial outlets, Arlanda’s chief commercial officer, Charlotte Ljunggren, said: “The range of options will satisfy all the different kinds of needs that passengers can imagine, whatever the time of day.

“For this space in SkyCity, we looked for a Swedish bistro that was open both day and night with good lunch options at attractive prices. The restaurant has to appeal to a broad target group and provide a quality offering – requirements that Pocket Bar & Bistro meets.”

Food will be served all day long at Pocket Bar & Bistro, whose menu consists of Swedish classics but also popular dishes with an international touch. There is also a bar section with a cosy atmosphere, for instance, for passengers or hotel guests in SkyCity.

Michael Bühring, CEO of Nordrest, the company behind the Pocket Bar & Bistro concept, enthused: “For a long time, we have looked forward to opening Pocket Bar & Bistro, which will be our second restaurant here at Arlanda.

“In the year ahead, we will open a further three restaurants at the airport – all in order to provide additional good options to people on the move – quite simply, a more decent eating experience for both passengers and employees at Arlanda.”

The new 11,000 square metre Marketplace, which is being created next door to the security checkpoint, represents Swedavia’s largest ever commercial investment at Stockholm Arlanda.

Being built in three phases, the first will open in the summer of 2023, and the whole Marketplace will be completed by the end of 2024/beginning of 2025.
