Rovaniemi Airport completes upgrade of vehicle parking areas

Finavia has completed the reorganisation of ground traffic and the expansion of parking areas at Rovaniemi Airport, which began in 2025.

The goal of the alteration work was to streamline the movement of vehicles in front of the airport and to increase the number of parking spaces.

“We started the development of areas for passenger cars and buses in spring 2025 as part of the expansion project of the departures hall,” noted Johan Juujärvi, Finavia’s airport manager at Rovaniemi Airport.

“The aim of the work has been to further develop the customer experience, which is already at a high level at Rovaniemi Airport.

“The work in the ground traffic areas was scheduled for two years so that it could be carried out outside the busiest travel season of the winter season.”

As part of the project, the airport has a new 4,000sqm long-term car park close to the terminal, separate bus area for bus traffic and a new zone next to the airport’s main entrance for the drop-off traffic of departing passengers.

With this year’s changes, there are also separate areas for those meeting arriving passengers and taxis, which improves the flow of traffic and the safety of pedestrians.

In the future, car rental companies will operate from the parking area at the end of the passenger terminal. There are currently eight car rental points operating at Rovaniemi Airport, and they are located inside the terminal.
