San Francisco International Airport (SFO) reports that the Thanksgiving 2025 travel period was its busiest Thanksgiving on record, surpassing forecasts and exceeding pre-pandemic activity levels.
From Thursday, November 20th through Monday, December 1st, SFO served over 1.8 million travellers, eclipsing the previous Thanksgiving record of 1.78 million set in 2019.
“Record-breaking travel at SFO shows the strength of our city’s recovery and the confidence visitors have in choosing San Francisco,” said Mayor Lurie.
“Tourism is our biggest industry, supporting our small businesses and generating the revenue that funds essential services for San Franciscans. I’m grateful to the entire SFO team for keeping travellers moving safely and smoothly during the busiest Thanksgiving in the airport’s history.”
While airport director, Mike Nakornkhet, said: “The holiday travel season is the ultimate measurement of both travel demand and operational execution.
“We are thrilled that this Thanksgiving was our busiest ever, which signals the strength of San Francisco and the entire Bay Area travel market. My thanks go out to our entire SFO team for being well-prepared for this unprecedented level of activity.”
