According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and exceeding its expectations, Orlando International Airport (MCO) has started 2021 as the busiest airport in the US for departures.
TSA traffic figures show that for eight straight days, from Sunday, December 27, until Sunday, January 3, MCO enjoyed more passenger departures than any other airport in the country.
Airport leadership attributes the better than expected data on a number of factors including.
These are said to include MCO’s continued emphasis on making the travelling public feel safe with its enhanced Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) approved cleaning protocols, audio and visual CDC safety guideline reminders and low air fares by the airlines.
The Florida gateway notes that “travellers taking individual responsibility for their travel choices” led to Orlando International surpassing 60,000 departing passengers per day over the past weekend.
