New routes catalyst for record year at Edinburgh Airport

Share

Edinburgh Airport  welcomed close to 17 million passengers in 2025 – a new milestone for a Scottish airport.

Last year, 16,980,588 passengers passed through the gateway, which is part of VINCI Airports’ global network of airports.

It notes that the record numbers were helped by a number of new routes in 2025, which included JetBlue’s new summer service to Boston; the return of American Airlines’ summer service to Philadelphia; and Air Canada launching a new route to Montréal.

Last year also saw Hainan Airlines introduce a year-round route to Beijing and the inauguration of 10 new easyJet routes.

The airport has already announced new routes and airlines for 2026, such as American Airlines adding New York to its destinations, as well as extending its Philadelphia service into the winter season, and Luxair entering the Scottish market with its seasonal route to Luxembourg.

Edinburgh Airport’s chief executive, Gordon Dewar, said: “The past year has been a strong one for Edinburgh Airport, reflecting the continued appetite for travel and tourism, both to and from Scotland, with new European and transatlantic routes further strengthening our connectivity.

“As we look to the year ahead, our focus remains on providing even more choice for our passengers, while continuing to invest in the airport and the experience we offer.”
