NEW F&B OUTLETS WILL LEAVE SLC PASSENGERS SPOILT FOR CHOICE

Share

Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) has unveiled the selection of new F&B offerings coming its way in autumn 2020 as part of its ongoing multi-billion dollar revamp.

The Utah airport believes that passengers will be ‘wowed’ not only by the new-look airport, but by the wide array of F&B options, which will include everything from traditional American fare to Asian, Italian and Mexican offerings.

The first phase of The New SLC will include 23 concepts from Cafe Rio, HMS Host, LaTrelles, OHM, SSP America, Salt Lake Brewing Company and The Grove. The selection includes a number of home-grown options that are local favourites.

“Our passengers are hungry for a variety of food and beverage options,” said Bill Wyatt, executive director of the Salt Lake City Department of Airports.

“Today’s traveller expects airports to provide a quality selection of restaurants with affordable pricing. Whether its casual fare or fine dining they will find it at The New SLC Airport.”

Popular options like Cafe Rio, Market Street Grill, Smashburger and Squatters are returning along with new concepts, such as Fillings & Emulsions, Granatos, Pago, Panera Bread, Silver Diner and Shake Shack.

As with the retail component of The New SLC, street pricing is planned for food and beverage. This means passengers will pay the same price charged at the store locations outside of the airport.

Global restaurateur HMSHost won a 10-year contract valued at approximately $418 million to deliver 12 new dining locations for the 25 million passengers who visit SLC every year.

It claims that its new restaurants and cafes will offer travellers a wide-ranging variety of experiences, each representing today’s top trends for dining out.

All its planned locations fall under various joint venture arrangements established by HMSHost with emerging travel dining companies and Utah-based small businesses.

“On behalf of HMSHost and our talented group of business partners, I want to say what an honour it is to be a part of this historic redevelopment project for Salt Lake City International Airport,” said HMSHost president and CEO Steve Johnson.

“We thank the Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA) for selecting our team to serve its travelers as the airport enhances and expands the services offered.

“The restaurants we will open are at the forefront of innovative dining trends at both the local and national level, and we could not be more excited to provide these great new dining destinations for SLC’s travellers.”

Set to be completed in the fall of 2020, the first phase of The New SLC will include a central terminal, the west end of two concourses and a parking garage.

Additional food and beverage concepts will be added to the programme for the second phase of The New SLC, which is scheduled for completion in late 2024.
