Budapest Airport has been declared the Overall Winner of the World Routes 2019 Marketing Awards in Adelaide, Australia.

The Hungarian gateway beat off strong rivalry, not only in the highly competitive ‘4-20 million passengers’ category, but also from airports around the world to take the highest accolade at the event.

On hearing the news of the triumph back home in Budapest, Dr Rolf Schnitzler CEO, said: “We’re absolutely ecstatic to learn that our aviation development team in Adelaide have raised the overall winner’s trophy on behalf of everyone here at Budapest Airport.

“To have our airline partners recognise the difference we want to make is the ultimate tribute to everyone’s belief and hard work.”

Acknowledging the exceptional marketing support the airport has given to its airline partners throughout the past twelve months, the capital city airport has established itself as a growing force in Central Eastern Europe.

Launching non-stop services to Shanghai, Seoul and Chicago (commencing May 2020), alongside another 39 routes which have been announced or started so far this year, Budapest continues to gain new carrier relations as well as ensure ongoing support from existing partners.

Through non-stop co-operation and marketing initiatives, the airport’s passenger numbers have skyrocketed over the last four years, as Budapest sees itself on track to hit 16 million this year.
