After a six year gap, China Eastern will return to Stockholm Arlanda Airport this summer with a new direct route to Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
The airport notes that it will be an important addition to its route network as it will connect the Swedish capital with Shanghai, China’s financial and commercial hub.
“There is great confidence in the Swedish air travel market and China Eastern’s investment in a direct route from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Shanghai is a clear sign of this,” says Swedavia’s director for aviation business, Elizabeth Axtelius.

“China Eastern will play an important role in connecting Sweden to China and other well-established markets in Asia.
“Our main goal is to increase the connectivity and facilitate for people to meet, whether it is for business, leisure or to visit family and friends.”
Shanghai is China’s largest city, a global financial and commercial hub and home to one of the world’s busiest ports while China is Sweden’s largest trading partner in Asia, and Shanghai is the base for many major Swedish companies.
The new route will also be of significant importance for the hospitality industry as well as high-value cargo benefiting from shorter and faster delivery times. Furthermore, the route will serve as an important connection to the Greater China and Asia Pacific due to China Eastern’s vast network.
Starting on June 22, 2026, China Eastern will operate Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) – Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) three times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
