Aena’s airports welcome 35 million passengers in October

Global operator, Aena, handled 35 million passengers across its airport system spanning two continents in October.
The total represented a 4.5% increase on the corresponding month a year ago as traffic across its 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport in the UK and 17 gateways in Brazil experienced a healthy upturn in passengers.
Between them the airports also handled 295,929 aircraft (+4.3%) and 150,175 tonnes of cargo (+9.3%) during the month.
In cumulative terms, from January to October, 329,225,575 passengers have passed through Aena Group airports (+4.1%); 2,795,051 aircraft movements (+2.6%); and 1,250,367 tonnes of freight (+7.2%) more than in the same period in 2024.

AIRPORTS IN SPAIN
The airports of the Aena network in Spain closed October with 29,496,984 passengers, 4.4% more than in the same month in 2024, with Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport leading the way by accommodating just over six million passengers – 6.3% compared to October 2024.
It was followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 5,243,506 (+5.6%), Palma de Mallorca, with 3,501,199 (+0.3%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 2,576,610 (+6.1%) and Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 1,902,792 (+5.9%).
In October, Sevilla Airport and Ceuta Heliport recorded the best passenger figures in their history.
In terms of operations, the airport with the most movements in October was Madrid-Barajas, with a total of 38,108 (+7.7% compared with 2024), followed by Barcelona-El Prat, with 32,802 flights (+4.1%); Palma de Mallorca, with 25,768 (+1.4%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 17,417 (+3.9%); Gran Canaria, with 12,086 (+0.8%) and Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 11,931 landings and take-offs (+6.1%).

The leading airports for cargo during the month were Madrid, Zaragoza and Barcelona, which recorded increases of 10.7%, 4.8% and 12.6% over October 2024 courtesy of handling 80,497 tonnes, Â 22,010 tonnes and 19,130 tonnes of freight respectively.
AENA BRASIL AIRPORTS
Just over four million passengers passed through Aena Brasil’s 17 Brazilian gateways in October – 4.7% more than in the corresponding month a year ago.
Broken down by airport group, ANB’s six airports handled 1,477,308 passengers (+4.9%) with Recife reporting a 2.5% upturn by accommodating 876,393 passengers.
While its BOAB group of eleven airports recorded 2,558,812 passengers in October (+4.6%). Among them, Congonhas Airport stands out with 2,176,654 passengers (+5.9%).
The latest totals mean that between January and October 2025 some 37,615,634 passengers passed through Aena airports in Brazil (+5.4%).

LONDON LUTON AIRPORT
Aena’s UK gateway, London Luton also enjoyed a good month, handling 1.56 million passengers (+5.7%) and 12,094 aircraft movements (+3.6%), although its October freight total of 2,634 tonnes was 8.3% down on the same month last year.
The results mean that the airport handled 15,011,548 passengers (+4.9%), 115,083 aircraft movements (+2.2%) and 25,080 tonnes of cargo (-3.9%) in the first 10 months of 2025.
