Almost 6.1 million passengers passed through Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in May 2025 – a rise of 2% on the corresponding month a year ago.
The Dutch hub also recorded a 2% increase in air traffic movements during the month, during which time Spain, the UK and Italy proved to be the most popular destinations.
Of the passenger total, around four million departed from or arrived at Schiphol, and almost 2.1 million transferred at the airport.
There were more than one million transfer passengers, who are counted twice in accordance with the international counting method: once as an arriving passenger and once as a departing passenger.
Almost 1.7 million passengers arrived from or flew to an intercontinental destination outside Europe.
Spain was the most popular destination, followed by the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece and the United States.

Cargo volumes also recorded a modest increase in May, with the airport handling 122,708 tonnes of freight, mostly carried in the bellyhold of passenger services.
Indeed, cargo carried on passenger flights grew by almost 4% year-on-year.
In total, 43% of the cargo was transported on passenger flights and 57% on full freighter flights. The number of full freighter flights was 1,295 in May 2025, which is comparable to May 2024 (1,289).
