THE DUTY FREE OFFERING AT ISTANBUL’S NEW AIRPORT JUST GOT BIGGER

Five new duty free shops spread over 8,000sqm have opened at Istanbul Airport ensuring that Turkey’s new hub now boasts one of the biggest commercial areas in the world.
The new Unifree Duty Free additions, in collaboration with Gebr Heinemann, means that the airport’s duty free zone now covers a total floor area of 53,000sqm.
One of the two flagship stores with the largest area in the duty free zone, consisting of different concept stores ranging from 4,200sqm to 28sqm, was commissioned this week.
According to airport operator, IGA, these will “take the visitors’ breath away with their wide range of products for all passengers, products specially made for Istanbul Airport and its architecture”.
It notes that the design of the duty free area was inspired by the Bosphorus and has seven different sections consisting of a Fashion Garden; Family Palace; High&Lux Hills–Fashion; High&Lux Hills–Jewelry and Watch; High&Lux Hills–Fashion and Accessories; Style Beach; and Icon Gulf.
Each section welcomes passengers with concept-related selective domestic and international brands offering a rich variety of products.
Indeed, it promises that right after the international passport control, passengers will met by brands such as Bottega Veneta, Bulgari, Celine, Christian Dior, Emporio Armani, Fendi, Ferragamo, Gucci, Hermes, Loro Piana, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Saint Laurent Paris.
In addition, Turkey’s prides D&R, Desa, Vakko, Mavi, Atasay, Zen Pırlanta, Yargıcı, Saat&Saat, Rue, Damat&Tween, D’s Damat, Luzdemia, Tamer Tanca and TNC Butik, Emnana, Guard Leather, İpekyol, Machka, US Polo, Pierre Cardin, Cacharel, Dogo, Lambend, Brandy’s and Penti brands will take their places in this giant project.
The airport also has its own ATU Duty Free operated bazaar, a 3,000sqm area featuring products from over 100 domestic and national producers.
